The National Football League and Apple Music have selected Jay-Z to headline the halftime show of Super Bowl LXI. The event is scheduled for Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The performance will mark the artist's first appearance on the halftime stage. "From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey," Jay-Z said in a statement. "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true."
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said he requested Jay-Z perform at the halftime show when Roc Nation first agreed to produce the event. "I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him," Goodell said. Apple Vice President of Music and International Content Oliver Schusser said the company is thrilled Jay-Z will take the stage. Roc Nation will executive produce the halftime broadcast, and Hamish Hamilton will direct.
The selection follows a series of performances celebrating the 30th anniversary of Jay-Z's career. He headlined the Roots Picnic in late May. In July, he performed three sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium to mark the 25th and 30th anniversaries of "The Blueprint" and "Reasonable Doubt." He also toured internationally with dates in Paris and London. He discussed his catalog with Rick Rubin in the eight-part docuseries "Jay-Z in 8."
His current tour concluded this past weekend at SoFi Stadium with two nights. Guests included Scarface, DJ Khaled, John Legend, Blue Ivy Carter, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Too Short.
Bad Bunny headlined this year's halftime show. His performance averaged 128.2 million viewers. The Super Bowl overall averaged 124.9 million viewers. The 2025 performance by Kendrick Lamar drew 133.5 million viewers.
The Super Bowl LXI halftime show will air on ESPN, ABC, Disney+ and NFL+. The Spanish-language telecast will be available on ESPN Deportes, Disney+ and Univision.
