Midwest Rain Threatens Halloween Plans

Rain and isolated storms are moving through the Omaha, Nebraska, area on Friday, keeping temperatures steady near 60 degrees. Meteorologists report the highest probability of widespread precipitation during the morning hours and again late in the evening. Between these periods, the sky remains cloudy with only occasional drizzle.

Local high school football playoffs begin as early as 4 p.m., a time when rain chances are lower. However, precipitation risks increase after sunset, creating a potential for lightning delays during evening games. While delays are possible, forecasters indicate they are not highly probable.

Showers and storms are likely to continue overnight into Saturday morning. Rain chances peak during the morning and evening hours on Saturday, coinciding with traditional trick-or-treat times. This weather pattern also affects the Nebraska Huskers football game, which now faces higher rain probabilities.

Halloween conditions are expected to be cool and cloudy, with temperatures in the 60s. A south wind will gust near 20 mph during the day before easing in the evening. Sunday will see continued cloud cover with possible drizzle, while highs remain in the 60s.

Monday brings a higher likelihood of repeated rain and storms accompanied by gusty south winds. Forecasters note that some rainfall could be heavy. Total accumulation through Monday and Tuesday could reach 3 to 4 inches in specific locations. No freeze is currently in the forecast, though frost remains possible by the end of the following week.
