More than 100,000 residents of Montgomery County, Texas, cast ballots during the first week of early voting for the November 2026 election. The county elections department reported that 104,054 ballots were submitted by the Oct. 30 deadline for that initial period. This figure represents 21 percent of the 487,232 registered voters in the county, according to data from the Texas Secretary of State’s website. Early voting runs through Oct. 30, marking a strong start for the upcoming general election.
In transportation news, George Bush Intercontinental Airport officially opened its redeveloped Terminal B North Concourse to travelers on Oct. 22. The new terminal features a United Club that officials described as being the size of a football field. An official unveiling ceremony took place the day prior, on Oct. 21, to mark the completion of the major redevelopment project at the international hub.
Local businesses and institutions are also marking milestones or expanding their footprints. Jimmy Butler’s coffee company, BIGFACE, has confirmed plans to open its first Texas location in Cypress in November. Meanwhile, the Sound Revolution record store is celebrating its 50th anniversary this month. Co-owner Sunne Walton credited the store’s longevity to a renewed interest in physical media among younger customers.
Government and civic projects continued to move forward in the North Houston area. Klein ISD officials confirmed that construction on a $29 million project for Klein Collins High School will begin in 2027. The project focuses on the school’s auditorium and traffic flow. A related filing was listed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Oct. 9.
Montgomery County commissioners voted 5-0 on Oct. 22 to approve additional law enforcement support for The Woodlands Township’s mounted patrol services. This decision follows a September vote by the township to approve the sheriff’s office proposal. Additionally, Montgomery County Precinct 4 opened a new community park on Oct. 29, as announced in an Oct. 13 news release. QuikTrip also filed plans for a new location at the intersection of FM 1960 and Mills Road, according to state licensing records.
These developments span education, aviation, retail, and public safety across the region. The early voting figures provide a baseline for participation in the upcoming election. The airport expansion serves to handle increased travel demand. The new businesses and parks aim to enhance local amenities and community engagement.
