Pueblo residents should enjoy the 80-degree forecast on Friday, October 23, as it marks the last day of warmth before a cold front arrives. The system is expected to move through Colorado, dropping weekend highs into the 50s and increasing the likelihood of rain.

The temperature swing will be sharp. Friday’s low is projected at 52 degrees, but Saturday’s high will only reach the 50s. This represents a drop of 20 to 30 degrees from the peak warmth. Along Interstate 25, sunshine is expected to break through morning clouds around 10 a.m. However, the front will bring additional cloud cover and may support thunderstorms farther east.

Several cities in the region face similar shifts. Colorado Springs is forecast to hit 73 degrees, with a low of 47. Canon City may see afternoon showers, with a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain. The city’s high will be 75 degrees and its low 49. Woodland Park will be cooler, with a high of 58 and a low of 39. Rain chances for Woodland Park are expected to arrive over the weekend.

The Tri-Lakes area, including Monument, is forecast to reach 69 degrees on Friday, dropping to 50s on Saturday. Farther south, Walsenburg and Trinidad will see highs of 73 and 74 degrees, respectively. These southern locations will experience their warmest days in the next week before weekend temperatures fall. Lows in these areas will be near 49 degrees.

On the eastern plains, thunderstorms may return by Friday evening after a sunny start. Afternoon temperatures there will range from the 70s to the 80s. In the mountains, highs will stay in the 60s with lows in the 30s. Swirling moisture and flooding remain concerns in southwestern Colorado, where water levels may take time to recede.

Conditions are expected to calm down next week. Sunshine and partly cloudy skies will return, with temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary outlook for Halloween calls for dry weather and temperatures in the 50s and 60s, although that forecast could change.
