Anthony Lloyd, a 38-year-old inmate, is on the loose in London after forcing his way out of a medical facility in Lewisham on Friday. The Metropolitan Police launched a citywide search shortly after 4pm, warning that Lloyd poses a risk both to himself and to the general public.

Police said Lloyd was last seen at approximately 4.10pm on Friday, heading toward the Catford area. Officers are currently conducting inquiries to locate him and return him to custody. Det Supt Melanie Pressley, who is leading the operation, urged anyone who spots Lloyd to call 999 immediately rather than approaching him.

Lloyd was convicted in 2025 of actual bodily harm related to an incident in Nottinghamshire involving three emergency services workers. He received a 12-month custodial sentence and was transferred to the Lewisham health unit in September. Police describe him as white, with a medium build, short dark hair, and a height of about 5ft 8in. When he left the facility, he was wearing a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers.

While officers believe Lloyd could be anywhere in the capital, they note he has links to several other regions. These include Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. The presence of these connections has expanded the scope of the search beyond the immediate vicinity of the Lewisham facility.

Pressley emphasized the urgency of the situation in a statement issued on Saturday. She asked the public to contact police if they have any information, no matter how small, that could help locate Lloyd. The police reference number for the case is CAD4739/23Oct.

The search remains active as officers work to narrow down Lloyd's location. Police have instructed members of the public to avoid direct contact with the fugitive and to rely on emergency services for coordination if he is spotted.
