Arsenal and Manchester City are now level at the top of the Premier League with 21 points each.

The tie was created on Saturday by two simultaneous results. Arsenal defeated Everton 2-0 in heavy rain at the Emirates Stadium, while Manchester City lost 2-1 at Aston Villa. This was the first defeat of the season for Manchester City.

Arsenal scored the first goal in the seventh minute. Martin Odegaard delivered a corner that Jordan Pickford blocked, but Ezri Konsa pounced on the loose ball and pushed it into the net from close range. This marked Konsa’s first goal for the club and Arsenal’s first set-piece goal in 13 matches. In the 68th minute, Ben White provided a cross for Gabriel, who headed in the second goal. Both players were making their 200th appearances for their respective teams in this competition.

At Villa Park, Nicolas Jackson scored two goals for Aston Villa. His first came in the sixth minute after a steal by John McGinn. Erling Haaland equalized for Manchester City shortly after halftime with a header from a free kick. Jackson secured the win in the 60th minute with a shot that went under goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. This victory extended Villa’s winning streak against Manchester City to three matches.

Manchester City remains under a cloud due to an ongoing financial appeal. An independent commission previously found the club committed 114 breaches of financial rules, a finding the club has denied. Jackson told TNT Sports that the team is trying to work game by game as they await the outcome of their appeal.

In other results, Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge. Mathys Tel scored the winning goal in the 87th minute. Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders scored an own goal in the 77th minute during his first league start. Fulham defeated Coventry City 1-0 with a late goal from Oscar Bobb in the 80th minute.
